Structural Steel Design

PSE Petroleum Structural Engineering®

Need more information about the PSE Software?

The PSE Petroleum Structural Engineering software allows to verify, design and optimize the steel members of a structure. The unmatched graphical user interface of the PSE software allows to create, analyze and design large and complex models quickly and easily. The program designs or verifies the whole or a part of a structure using standard sections or parametric section shapes (over 40 shapes available).

The PSE application allows to verify and optimize steel members with standard sections and non-standard sections according to the American AISC 360 (LRFD and ASD), the Canadian CSA 16, the European Eurocode 3 and 4 and the Indian IS 800 design codes. The PSE application also supports the AISI S100-16 and CSA S136-16 for the design of cold-formed steel members.

• Calculation of the bending, compression, tension, shear and combined resistance of steel elements.
• The program optimizes the section shapes to minimize the weight or the cost of the whole or a part of the structure. This optimization is performed based on the complete or customized list of standard section shapes or any user defined library of standard and parametric sections shapes.
• Geometrical limits can be defined to control the dimensions and properties of the section shapes selected by the optimization engine.
• The optimization engine can check various deflection criterions during the section selection process.

KEY features

The PSE is a structural engineering software solution for the analysis, design and rehabilitation of drilling structures including drilling masts, derricks and substructures.

The advanced structural analysis of the PSE software allows engineers to achieve specialized analyses crucial to offshore and onshore projects related to the oil and gas industry.

Wind loads, based on the velocity component approach, are defined according to API 4F Specification for Drilling and Well Servicing Structures (5th edition).

Vessel dynamic motions are defined according to API 4F Specification for Drilling and Well Servicing Structures (5th edition).

Other environmental forces such as wave and current loads are also considered for the analysis and design of offshore drilling structures.

The PSE software allows to verify, design and optimize steel members of drilling structures according to various international design codes.
